The ultimate outcome for the mounting process that we have designed, is for the horses to stand so quietly that any person of any age, or ability, can mount.
Part of Step 5 of our training program is **Mounting Education**, this is a critical phase that ensures both the horse and rider are comfortable and confident during the transition from ground to saddle.
Proper mounting training teaches the horse to stand still and relaxed while the rider approaches and positions themselves in the saddle.
This step helps the horse develop patience and trust, reducing any potential anxiety or resistance that may arise when the rider mounts.
A calm and well-trained response to mounting is essential for maintaining balance and harmony from the very beginning of the ride. This phase also allows the rider to assess the horse’s readiness for work under saddle, ensuring that the horse is mentally and physically prepared to engage in training.
Through consistent and positive mounting education, the horse learns to accept the rider’s weight and feel comfortable with the changes in pressure and balance that occur as the rider settles into the saddle.
By establishing a calm, respectful routine for mounting, this step contributes to the overall safety and success of future training sessions, setting the stage for smooth, focused work under saddle.
